Coming to Our Senses: Four-Night In-Person Silent Insight Meditation Retreat
October 12, 2023 - October 16, 2023
In the path of dharma practice we practice connecting to the truth of each moment as experienced in the body and through all the senses. Mysteriously, this can effectively reduce anxiety and confusion and make room for peace and joy.
The support of the community, teachers and teachings all help you face the challenges of your life and the stress of being alive at this time on our planet. Meditation can help balance your nervous system, moving from fight, flight freeze to rest and digest. This is profoundly healing. Not only do you learn to notice the habit of getting lost in troubled thinking, you practice creating a whole new relationship to your thoughts.
As you settle into the simple life of retreat, you can move from feeling overwhelmed with worries, grief, and restlessness to feeling steady and grateful. Time in retreat allows you to step away from the demands of everyday life to listen deeply to your body, heart and mind. The purpose of this practice is to turn our attention to what brings true peace and happiness in life while cultivating more resilience, compassion and wisdom, both in responding to suffering in the world and in our own hearts. Most of the retreat is held in silence, with periods of sitting and walking meditation. There are teaching talks, guided meditations, and each participant will be in a teacher led practice discussion meeting.
Three healthy vegetarian meals are provided for participants and dietary restrictions are accommodated whenever possible. Retreatants are given guidance to encourage the practice of mindfulness in all the retreat activities, staying with their own present experience as it unfolds, moment to moment.
Dana/Generosity: The registration fee does not include compensation to the teachers. There will be an opportunity at the end of the retreat to donate to the teachers. Thank you for your support!
